Christmas Day - 1941
Noted as the first wartime Christmas of World War 2,  the United States was still reeling from the attack on Pearl Harbor.

According to the BBC , There was a break in the bombing over the Christmas holiday, but everyone was aware that this was only a brief respite.

As per OnWar, In Hong Kong...The British and Canadian manned garrison at Hong Kong surrender to the Japanese.
On Eastern Front
... Soviet offensives continue to succeed before Moscow.
In North Africa
... The advancing Allies reach Benghazi and Agebadia. The Axis forces continue to withdraw.
In the Philippines
... The US defensive strategy continues with their withdrawal to the second line of defense at the Agno River. Japanese attacks continue. December 25, 1941 on Christmas Day. Twice in the morning, the Japanese planes dropped their bombs. One incident hit passenger train at, Laguna, killing many passengers and wounding many more. 


Christmas Day - 1942

In New Britain... The Japanese base at Rabaul is attacked by bombers from Guadalcanal. 
In North Africa... Libya, The Axis garrison of Sirte withdraws. 
In Tunisia
... German forces retake Longstop Hill.
In Burma...Patrols from the 123rd Brigade reach Rathedaung and report that the Japanese have evacuated. This is not the case and actually Japanese reinforcements are on the way.


Christmas Day - 1943

On the Eastern Front... Soviet forces south of Nevel continue attacking and the Vitebsk-Polotsk rail line is cut.
In the Bismarck Archipelago... US Task Group 50.2 (Admiral Sherman) raids Kavieng with 86 aircraft. There are 2 carriers and 6 destroyers employed in the operation but they succeed in sinking only 1 Japanese transport ship.
In the Arctic... The German battle cruiser Scharnhorst under the command of Admiral Bey sets sail from northern Norway to attack convoy JW-55B which has been discovered by German air and submarine patrols. Bey is unaware that the British battleship Duke of York is in distant support of the convoy.


Christmas Day - 1944

On the Western Front... Allied forces surrounding the German-held bulge begin counterattacking. The US 4th Armored Division, an element of US 3rd Army, aims at relieving the Americans surrounded in Bastogne.  Meanwhile, German attacks are halted by American armor at Celles, about 6 km east of the Meuse River, after having advanced about 80 km since the beginning of the offensive in mid-December.
In Italy... German radio announces a withdrawal of some 2000 yards to the northwest of Faenza after heavy battles.
On the Eastern Front... In Hungary, Soviet forces continue to advance west and southwest of Budapest. To the northwest of Budapest, intensive fighting is reported with Soviet forces now less than 100 miles from Vienna.
In Liberated Greece... Fighting between the Greek government forces and the communist forces begins to die down. British forces have actively assisted the government. 
In Athens... British Prime Minister Churchill and Foreign Secretary Eden arrive for talks with Greek leaders, including ELAS representatives.
In the Philippines... On Leyte, part of the US 77th Division makes an amphibious move from Ormoc to San Juan, on the west coast of the island, north of Palompon, where the Japanese forces are concentrated. The landing is unopposed. General MacArthur announces that the Leyte campaign has ended with Japanese losses totaling 113,221.
