The twelve days of Christmas are the twelve days between Christmas (December 25th) and the Epiphany (January 6th), which is when the three wise men supposedly arrived on the scene. The world celebrates Christmas for twelve hours, but the Church celebrates it for twelve days because the gift of Christ is with us for twelve months of the year.
